The Candle's Light
- You asked me what I see
- In this little candle's light;
- I see the candle and the flame
- And many more things that I will name.
- I see creation on the first day
- When God made the light and gave it a name.
- I see creation on the fourth day,
- In a star twinkling in the flame.
- I see the searching prodigal son,
- Lost on a storm darkened sea.
- I see ten thousand mothers
- Humbled in prayer, on bended knee.
- I see Christ, the symbol of light,
- In this little flame tonight;
- Standing alone, a beacon in the dark,
- The catalyst of God's eternal spark.
- I see hope in this candle's light,
- A safe haven from the dark night.
- I see the way: I see the door:
- I see all this and much more.
- I see shadows dancing on the wall,
- Ghostly figures, goblins and all.
- In the light I see God's greatest feat.
- I see satan going down in defeat.
- I see the spark of life
- In the flickering flame of fire.
- I see victory over death,
- All from God's kiss of life-giving breath.
- I see the candle grow short.
- I see the flame grow high.
- I see hope grow stronger,
- As the body slowly dies.
- But, above all, I see a miracle in the night.
- I see the power of darkness yeilding to the Light.
